The owners, Moshe Levy, 57 years old, and Emily Levy, 54, purchased this more than 5-acre property in the Encino area of Los Angeles, Calif., for $2.99 million in 2007, according to public records. Situated high above the San Fernando Valley, the home has views of the Santa Monica mountains and the valley below, Mr. Levy said.

The home was lender-owned and had been left unfinished, Mr. Levy said. He said they invested about $1.4 million into completing the home, which needed all new finishes and cabinetry throughout most of the home. They repainted the exterior from a 'boring stucco' to this Tuscan-inspired tone, he said.

The home didn't have flooring in most places, Mr. Levy said, with the exception of the foyer, shown here. His favorite piece of art in the home is a painting of Mount Everest at the top of this staircase. An avid climber, Mr. Levy says he's climbed to the base camp twice. 'My heart is on the wall,' he said about the painting.

Here, in the living room, they installed an engineered wood finish surrounded by marble tiling. They added an ornate wood mantel for the fireplace, shown right.

The 9,424-square-foot home includes six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and five partial baths, according to the listing agent. The master bedroom is shown.

Mr. and Ms. Levy work together in the general contracting business for both residential and commercial developments, he said. A bar in the home, shown here, includes Mr. Levy's collection of Grand Marnier. He also has a collection of coke bottles and shot glasses from his world travels, he said, including a cross-continent road trip that began in Los Angeles and ended in Argentina.

The wine room can hold 2,000 bottles, Mr. Levy said, and features a ceiling made of wine bottle corks.

The home includes two steam rooms, one of which is pictured. There is also an exercise room, a home theater and an elevator. Mr. Levy says they are selling because their adult children have moved out, and the home 'is too big for us.'

The home was listed in November for $3.98 million with Myra Haklili of Rodeo Realty. Mr. Levy said the home was previously listed in 2008 for about $5.9 million with a different broker.
