This waterfront home in Belvedere, Calif., with four bedrooms, four full baths, three half baths, a pier, a buoy and a floating dock is on the market for $16.5 million.

Carole and Robert McNeil paid $4.575 million for the house in 2004 and spent 18 months rebuilding it from the foundation up.

They hired architect Andrew Skurman to create an Italianate home with Venetian plaster walls and fireplaces brought from France and Italy.

Mrs. McNeil, who declined to comment on the cost of the remodeling, says they imported the antique wood floors and the roof tiles from Italy. Shown here, the kitchen.

The house has views of Mount Tamalpais, Sausalito, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Bridge and San Francisco.

Each of the bathrooms is done in a different kind of stone, says Mrs. McNeil.

The McNeils are selling as they say it is time to downsize. William Bullock and Lydia Sarkissian of Decker Bullock Sotheby's International Realty have the listing.
