Glen and Jennifer Gauthier purchased this townhouse in Hamilton Heights under an limited-liability corporation in 2007 for $925,000, according to public records. The couple are from Canada and have lived in Hamilton Heights for the last six years.

Mr. Gauthier says the couple have lived in six homes in the nine years they've been in the U.S. and have 'renovated each one, pretty much...I think, whether it's a sickness or that we love each house for what it is, but we always seem to find the next house that is going to be that much better.'

Another living room in the home is pictured. They never thought they would own brownstone home, but Mr. Gauthier said they were 'introduced to Hamilton Heights' and found one in need of work. A bank loan allowed them to roll construction costs in to the mortgage. 'That allowed us to really own our dream,' he says.

Ms. Dysert, 36 years old, is a criminal psychologist, and Mr. Gauthier, 46, was a small-business owner but is now focussed on renovating the properties. He oversees the construction phase of the renovations while Ms. Dysert 'loves design, loves architecture,' he says. 'She looks at the property and floor plans...and works directly with the architect in designing the actual spaces.'

The kitchen features black walnut cabinetry and an island made from a tree felled during superstorm Sandy. Mr. Gauthier jokes that the couple are 'a husband-and-wife team like no other.'

The fireplace in the kitchen is pictured. It took the couple one year to gut renovate this townhouse, removing walls, installing new wiring, plumbing, windows, doors and a roof. 'We opened it up as much as possible,' says Mr. Gauthier. 'We [were] trying to bring this property back to its original grandeur.'

The couple, who currently live in an apartment in the neighborhood, intended to live here after the renovation was complete but instead discovered that a home they had considered about two years ago was available for purchase. 'Once we take possession of it, it's going to be, we hope, our final renovation,' says Mr. Gauthier. The master suite, pictured, has double walk-in-closets.

The master bedroom fireplace, one of four in the home, is pictured. Mr. Gauthier says the couple don't consider themselves property flippers but love finding, renovating and living in beautiful homes. Selling this home without living in it is 'very difficult for us,' he says,' because we just created this 20-foot wide brownstone which is absolutely gorgeous...We never intended to leave the home of our dreams.'

The master bathroom has heated floors and a Jacuzzi. The 4,000-square-foot property has five bedrooms, 4 ¨ö bathrooms and a finished cellar, according to the listing.

Another bedroom in the home is pictured. The property is close to the Riverbank State Park and is on the same street as a friary. 'We've grown to adore Hamilton Heights,' says Mr. Gauthier. 'We know pretty much every single neighbor.'

Original elements that could be salvaged in the home were repurposed or restored, including the mantlepieces, wainscotting and moldings, Mr. Gauthier says. The bathrooms feature subway tiles and heated penny tile marble in the bathrooms.

The deck also has a trellis and the couple are trying to promote the growth of grape vines over the structure. 'I'm positive that over a year it will look stunning,' says Mr. Gauthier. The property was listed with Tamara Marotta of Sothebys International Realty in April for $2,695,000.
