On a narrow road of mostly boxy structures, the Gouws' four-story home looks from the outside as if it could have been airlifted from Paris, with a stone-colored facade and rows of elegant windows framed in timber. The nearly 15-foot-tall front gate was hand worked from wrought iron with three-dimensional flowers, gold-painted leaves and curving vines.

In addition to its classic inspirations, the house was also reconstructed to house two families, allowing Carl Gouw, his wife, Katie, and their almost 2-year-old daughter to move back in with his parents, who are in their 70s. The interior is laid out like two townhouses. Shown here is the elder Gouws' living room, with a wood-burning fireplace, brass-colored moldings and a custom-made carpet that has a faint fleur-de-lis design.

The living room for Mr. Gouw's parents is also shown here.

While there are separate entrances, the two generations share a kitchen and dining room, one floor below ground, with red leather chairs around a simple table topped with an antique, three-piece candelabra set.

Shown here is the two-story master bedroom suite for the younger Mr. Gouw and his wife. It includes a sitting area, dressing room and desks for each of them.

A spiral staircase and balcony made of hand-crafted bronze mesh separate the dressing room and the younger Mrs. Gouw's desk from the sitting area below.

Pictured is the living room of the younger Gouws.

Carl and Katie Gouw sit in a patio area with plain white cushions and a low table. Glass doors from here lead into their more casual, living room.

A working fountain shaped like a gargoyle's face flows into the pool.

Carl Gouw sitting in the more traditional, antique-filled living room. It was designed for his parents, who are in their 70s, but Mr. Gouw, who is 36 and grew up in colonial Hong Kong, says 'even though it doesn't really match my age, I have always loved architecture of the old Western world.'
