The owners, Tim Goff, 53 years old, and Sherri Goff, 54, purchased this roughly 1-acre property on Lake Norman in Mooresville, N.C., for about $2.1 million in 2005, according to public records. Situated on 190 feet of lake frontage, the home includes a dock large enough for a 30-foot boat, Mr. Goff said.

The roughly 9,000-square-foot home was built in 2000, according to Grand Estates Auction Co., which is handling the sale. The couple moved to North Carolina from Atlanta to be closer to Mr. Goff's work in the food service management business. He retired in 2012. They had never lived on a lake before this home, and he says they 'fell in love' with the temperate seasons and location.

The home's dock on Lake Norman is shown. At 34 miles long with 529 miles of shoreline, Lake Norman is the largest man-made lake in the Carolinas, according to the Visit Lake Norman tourism group. Mr. Goff has docked a 28-foot boat on the property, and says there is also space for two Jet Skis.

The two-story great room, pictured here, includes a wall of windows overlooking Lake Norman, as well as French doors that open to a patio area by the water. 'The back of the house faces east, so we get really beautiful early morning sun, and really nice afternoon shade,' Mr. Goff said.

The kitchen includes two full ovens and two dishwashers. As is often the case, guests congregate in the sitting area beside the kitchen, Mr. Goff said. When the couple's three children are home, this is where the family spends a lot of its time, he said.

The dining room can fit 10 people comfortably, Mr. Goff said. The home includes five fireplaces. The home is part of a luxury development with a Greg Norman-designed golf course and other shared amenities.

The foyer features a 20-foot ceiling and central staircase. Mr. Goff says he and his wife are selling the home because their children are grown and they're looking to move to a smaller home in the community.

The home has six bedrooms. The two-story master bedroom is shown. Ms. Goff designed the home, including the purple walls of this room. 'I didn't think I would like it, but after living here I really like the color,' he said. There is a Juliet balcony located off the room.

There are six full bathrooms and two half baths. The master bedroom, which includes a fireplace, is shown.

The lower level includes a temperature-controlled wine cellar that can hold 'several hundred' bottles of wine, Mr. Goff said. For the concerned parent, there is a lock on the door to keep the kids out, he said.

The home was last listed on the market in the summer of 2012 for about $2.4 million, according to the auction company. It will go to auction with no minimum bid or reserve price on June 18 with Grand Estates Auction Co. Mr. Goff said he's decided to go the auction route to get wider exposure for the home with a timelier outcome.
