The stucco-fronted property built in the 1830s is a lateral conversion across two houses. "We were attracted to the design because it was only on two floors and gave us double the width and front and back gardens," says owner Clare Croly, who has lived the home for more than 20 years

Ms. Croly says her favorite part of the 4,885-square-foot house is the drawing room. "It's a double drawing room, with views both onto the canal in the front and onto the garden at the back," she says, adding that the 565-square-meter garden "is spectacular and that's my husband's doing. He's built it up over 20 years."

The three-bedroom, three-bath property has a galleried dining room, drawing room, wine cellar and gym, and the rooms benefit from an abundance of natural light. "It's very easy to entertain," Ms. Croly says. "There are big reception spaces which are lovely to be in."

The kitchen and breakfast room link to the dining room, with views onto the garden.

The location, overlooking Regent's Canal, is within half a mile of Paddington Station and near shops and restaurants. It also allows for quick access to Heathrow airport.

The property was jointly listed with Aston Chase and Knight Frank for £9.25 million ($14.5 million). It was recently sold.
