The first-floor South Kensington apartment spans across two stucco-fronted buildings, originally built by Prince Albert in the 1860s, explains developer Ollie Holt of Unbranded Group. "The apartment has lateral accommodation across the two principal first-floor entertaining rooms with further accommodation to the rear comprising five bedrooms."

Mr. Holt says the 3,648-square-foot apartment was "comprehensively refurbished" in 2012/2013, blending modern and period features. This Grade II-listed first-floor lateral flat in London used to be separate apartments. But they were later put together to generate this ample living space.

The airy mezzanine study overlooks two reception areas that have had original features reinstated.

An open-plan contemporary kitchen and dining area feature an overhead mezzanine gallery. It comes with a guest cloakroom, a utility room/staff kitchen, a gallery/study and a drawing room.

Two of the bedrooms lead out onto their own balconies. Apart from its striking features, the property is conveniently located. "The location is very central and close to the V&A Museum and Knightsbridge," Mr. Holt says.

The apartment, which has five bathrooms, is listed with W.A. Ellis at £9.25 million ($14.5 million).
