Susan Tejpaul, who has lived in the 3,521-square-foot house for the past six years with her husband, says she was immediately attracted to the traditional 19th-century facade.

It took about a year for the couple to renovate the interior of the house with a contemporary style. The couple brought in designer Birgit Klein to enhance the rooms but didn't make structural changes

The dining room has large sliding glass doors that open onto the garden designed by Luciano Giubbilei, a past medalist at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Ms. Tejpaul says the spacious garden, which she describes as an "oasis of tranquillity," is her favorite part of the house.

The home's five bedrooms are arranged in modern, understated styles and painted in neutral tones. The master bedroom is on the third floor, which opens onto a roof terrace.

The house, which has four bathrooms, is located just two blocks from the heart of London's Notting Hill, providing easy access to an abundance of shops, restaurants and transport links.

The home, which is under offer, is listed with Savills U.K. at £8.5 million ($13.1 million).
