The owner, Brian Copp, 61, purchased this home in Greenwich, Conn., with his former wife in 2007, he said. They purchased it for $2.05 million, according to public records. Built in the 1920s, the 3,456-square-foot home was designed to look like a traditional Tuscan villa, Mr. Copp said

Located on a block with an array of diverse styles, including a home in the style of a Normandy castle and several stone Tudors, this property is 'unique without being too out there,' Mr. Copp said. The walls of the home are three-feet thick in some places and terra cotta tiling on the roof is used to complete the Italian theme.

The home required significant work, Mr. Copp said, but one feature would be spared any changes: the intricately patterned ceiling in the living room. 'We never touched it,' Mr. Copp said, though they tore down several interior walls in the home to create a more open, modern layout.

Mr. Copp says they also kept this wood-burning fireplace, shown here. 'Six people could stand in that fireplace,' he said. Most of the renovation work took place in 2007-'08, and cost roughly $800,000, he said.

The renovation involved creating new en suite bathrooms for the bedrooms, expanding the kitchen and creating a new master bedroom suite. The home includes four bedrooms, five full bathrooms and one partial bath. Mr. Copp says there is space for another bedroom conversion.

'At that point prices had fallen in Greenwich and we were looking for a renovation project,' Mr. Copp said about their house hunt in 2007. He said this home provided a large enough layout for them to customize the floor plan and create a modern space with an interesting facade.

The dining area, with French doors leading out to the grounds, is shown.

Mr. Copp is selling the property because he now lives in New York. He is retired from the investment banking industry.

The home sits on 1.6 acres. Some of the landscaping is shown

The home was listed in June for $2.95 million with Lyn Stevens of Sotheby's International Realty
