The owner, Josie Bissett, 42, purchased this home in Bellevue, Wash., in 2010 for $2.15 million, according to public records. Ms. Bissett, an actress known for her role as Jane Andrews Mancini on the TV drama 'Melrose Place,' said she bought the home in the Washington suburb to raise her two children away from the bustle of Los Angeles.

Ms. Bissett, born Jolynn Christine Heutmaker, shown here, was an original cast member of the prime-time soap 'Melrose Place' and reprised the role of Jane Andrew Mancini on the 2009 reboot of the series. She is currently writing books for children ages 5 to 10, she said. One of the books, 'Tickle Monster,' is about an affable alien from Planet Tickle.

Built in 2005, Ms. Bissett and her family were only the second owners of the property, she said. 'What I like about it is it doesn't have that stark new-home feeling,' she said. The home didn't require any major renovation, which allowed her and her designer to focus on the home's style.

'I really wanted to make this home unique and fun and for each room to have a pop of color,' she said. The family room, with a zebra-patterned rug and fireplace, is shown.

One of the major reasons why Ms. Bissett chose the house is because of its modern and spacious floor plan. 'The house has a great feeling and energy,' she said, which flows from room to room. The dining area, which is beside the informal living space, is shown.

There are also formal living and dining rooms. She designed the home with Kristi Sparks of Ethan Allen/Bellevue, Ms. Bissett said. 'I can't tell you how many hours she spent here,' she said, laughing.

While she didn't add square footage to the home, Ms. Bissett created a year-round deck with heaters and a firepit. 'We're out there all the time, rain or shine,' she said.

Ms. Bissett is engaged to Jeff Reed, the chief technology officer at technology consulting firm Arrow S3. She's selling this home to move in with Mr. Reed at their home on Lake Sammamish, which is about 30 minutes east of Seattle. The home's kitchen is shown.

The home measures 5,200 square feet and includes five bedrooms, three full bathrooms and two partial baths.

One of the things Ms. Bissett says she'll miss about the area is its public school district, as well as the home's proximity to nearby shopping

The home was listed this week for $3 million with Joseph Brazen and Grant Gibbs of Brazen Sotheby's International Realty.
