A Times Square Christmas Day
Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, The Ripley's Believe it or Not Odditorium, Dave and Buster's arcade, and the King Tut exhibit at the Discovery Times Square Exposition are all open on Christmas Day for an adventurous day. While there, stop in and hit the Times Square Visitors Center to take a ride in the Duracell Rover.

Chinese and a Movie
Enjoy your traditional Chinese and a movie in the company of others at the 92nd Street Y in Tribeca. An all you can eat Chinese Buffet precedes a hysterical double feature of Airplane and The Naked Gun. 92Y Tribeca, 2pm, $25 in adv./$30 at the Door

Or Just a Movie
Kids will delight in a screening of the fantastical tale of Hugo and the Dragon. This unique and acclaimed animated film uses filmed puppetry to tell a magical tail. Symphony Space, 11 am and 1pm, Adults $11, kids $9. Many of the movie theaters in NYC are open, too, you could see the family friendly Yogi Bear or Tangled.

Go Wild at the Zoo
The New York Aquarium, The Central Park, Prospect Park and Queens Zoos are open for Christmas and you can watch the Hamadryas baboons and Meerkats getting their Christmas gifts at the Prospect Park Zoo and the pumas, coyotes and bears in Queens. The Bronx Zoo is NOT open on Christmas or New Year's Day.
Hit the Ice
Work off the turkey dinner or all the Chinese with a twirl on the ice. All the outdoor ice rinks are open. See our list of favorite rinks here and check each site for hours.
Take a Walk
See ¡°The Tree¡± one last time before Rock Center goes back to normal. While there, check out the view from the Top of the Rock (it is open on Christmas Day!) Stroll up Fifth Avenue to visit the amazing department store holiday windows before they, too, are gone.

Visit the Parks
Get some fresh air and have some fun with nature up at Inwood Hill Park, the Urban Park Rangers will be making some holiday nature crafts at noon, and at Blue Heron Park they will be crafting at 11:00 am. At 10:00 am over at the rustic Alley Pond Park they will be taking a little walk looking for some winter wildlife in the park. Eight tiny reindeer perhaps? All three programs are free.
Our friends at NewYorkology have a pretty extensive list of what is open on Christmas day in NYC – restaurants, museums and Broadway.
