| | Pandering here means taking advantage of the weakness of others. Empathy means to identify with the feeling or thoughts of others. So, someone who appears to identify with the weakness of others may be doing this to gain profit out of them. For instance, do not confuse pharmaceutical companies/ therapists who are trying to sell their products for their profit as someone who genuinely cares for you. They are simply trying to make money off of you. |

| I am guessing:
Do not confuse (me "satisfying" other people's desires/wants) for (me "understanding" other people's desires/wants)
Pandering is actually doing something to satisfy someone's wants for desires, whereas empathy is just understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to other people's desires/wants.
Does this make sense?
